Third Cycle4Central a Big Success! The Foundation’s third annual Cycle4Central took place on May 8,2010, and raised over $6,000 to benefit theDistrict’s Summer Library Program! Over 100 participants enjoyed a day of cycling and walking. There was something for everyone. This year’s event featured a metric century, which took riders on a 65-mile route that offered scenic views of the City and County of Fresno as well as beautiful areas along Friant Road. Other riders participated in the 10-mile ride to Kearney Park and back, and even the little ones had their own Cub ride that took place at Koligian Stadium. This year we introduced a 2.5 mile power walk which routed participants past the construction site of Central’s newest school, Glacier Point Middle School, then around to Harvest Elementary and back.

The Foundation for Central Schools would like to thank the Wells Fargo Foundation for their grant award of $10,000! The funds will be divided equally between the Agriculture pillar and school site grants. The school site grants will provide principals the opportunity to secure a $2,500 grant for their school. Details for criteria will be set and the grant opportunity will open in the fall of 2010.
State of the District
The Foundation will be hosting the third State of the District dinner which will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 5:30 PM at Grand Occasions Catering, located at 4584 W. Jacquelyn Ave, Fresno, CA 93722 This will be the first State of the District event for Mike Berg as Superintendent. All Central Unified employees are invited to the event to kick off the new school year, as well as area stakeholders, the Board of Trustees, and community supporters. The Educational Employees Credit Union is the Title sponsor. Other sponsorship opportunities are available. This years home is located with in the Central Unified School DIstrict at the La Ventana subdivision. The brand new Granville home is 1630 sq. ft., 3 bedroom, 2 bath 3 car garage home. 100% of the proceeds will benefit 8 local non-profit organizations including the Foundation for Central Schools.
